Hi Ho Hi Ho....To Old Quebec City we go (or should I say went)

We began our family vacation in Old Montreal where we spent 2 nights at the Marriot before heading another 3 hours into Old Quebec City where we spent the remainder of the week. As we were travelling as a family of six (Alec brought a friend for the week) we opted to rent a historic home right in the heart of the old walls of the city. It was an amazing home and location......full of historic details, exposed stone, and gorgeous mouldings and baseboards. While I appreciated the architecture the kids loved all the cool hiding places!!

The city itself was beautiful (impecably clean, even to my standards). We toured the Citadelle, visited the Quebec Aquarium, the Musse du Civilization, and ate at some of the nicest little cafe's that line the cobblestone streets. The open air produce markets, alleys lined with artisens, and street performers/musicians that roamed just made the vacation all that more amazing.

Each child had a "special" memory from the trip. Claire LOVED taking a horse drawn carriage ride through the streets. Evan was very much impressed by the penguin exhibit at the Biodome in Montreal. He was thrilled when he was given a real penguin feather by the woman working at the exhibit. Alec (and his friend Devin) took their BMX's along and they spent the week biking around Quebec.....making friends and exploring the city in their own way.

Overall, the vacation was a huge success. Worth the 10 hour drive with 4 kids in tow!! The kids were sad to say goodbye and are already wondering where we will go next.
